Looking to get into sublimation, need help with what equipment is best. Will be printing on Koozies, can holders, wine bottle covers, mouse pads and other item. Do I need a wide format or will regular printer do. Have never done this so know nothing about sublimation. Located in Virginia

A regular printer should be more than large enough. Most of the items you said you will be printing on would use a transfer that could be printed on an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet.

You could easily start out with a Ricoh GX e3300N. That's a good entry level sublimation printer and the Ricohs tend to, in general, be a bit more forgiving than an Epson.

I got my gx e3300N from www.conde.com the tech support is great and believe me you will want it when it comes to matching colors. They have color profiles that they walk you through downloading and installing. I would advise getting their colormatch chart and print it on the different materials you might use. So that way you can get a true red, blue or whatever color you are trying to achieve. My other advice to you is to get daylight bulbs in your shop area. I once sublimated bag tags for a baseball team that I thought was red but when we took them to the team in daylight it was pink....lol true story we had to do them all over again!! Claudia is my salesperson and she is outstanding and I have tested her knowledge a ton!!!

Check out the printers at Cobra Ink http://www.cobraink.com/index2.htm they install a CIS in the printers for photo, inkjet transfers and for dye sub printing (high temp inks). Very well priced with CIS installed and filled with your selection of ink. I will be ordering one from them the middle of April or so.
