Default Thread & Bobbin Tension

I am running Happy HCG and HCA machines. I've found in this forum the mention of the "yoyo" test for bobbin thread tension. I've applied the yoyo test to the bobbin, and did a tension test to set the tension on the upper thread. Everything looks great, I see about 1/3 of bobbin in the middle of the sample and the upper thread on each side.

Then my wife will use the machine, and insist that the bobbin is too loose and that there is too much bobbin showing through on the top. Does anyone else have this problem? I'm not sure whether I need to get a new tension test or a new wife.

Default Re: Thread & Bobbin Tension

When you adjust the tension on the bobbin. Did you check to make sure there was no lint between the tension arm and bobbin? If there is some lint or thread in between the two then your bobbin won't hold tension. When I adjust the tension on a bobbin I always run the corner of a business card between the arm and bobbin to remove anything I also use compressed air and blow it out.

(When I say arm I am talking about the little metal arm that has the screw to adjust the tension)
