IMO, thread breaks with the Amya may have something to do with the auto tension feature. I personally have no hands on with them but will say that ANY machine that has a bit of a dirt, grit, lint or lube problem will usually give you problems with thread breaks.
My personal dislike of the Amyas is that they need an aftermarket computer to load their operating system into for the machine to run, I much prefer a machine that all I need to do is load a design and hit go. Much better for business in case your computer bites the dust as you can save all your stitch designs on a floppy, usb or some flash card and load your machine from that.
