Smile Used equipment

I've been in the sign business for about 20 years and I would like to help my mom set up a small embroidery and promotional products business in my shop. We just became active with ASI for the promotional products and we are thinking about getting into embroidery on a small scale with a 1 or 2 head machine.
I would really appreciate advice on good brands, etc.
Ideally I would like to find a good used machine from someone in a western state that would be willing to give us a little hands on training. I'd like her to be able to do caps and shirts of course. I'd like to be able to do that puff effect also (for our own sign shirts if nothing else ). We do not plan to do our own digitizing.
I'd like to keep my budget for a decent used machine with decent software at around $5000 +/- Is this possible?

Thanks for any help!

Hi,

Great to know that you are interested to come into embroidery business. You are definately at the right forum.

Buying an embroidery machine is the first game that needs a good advice if you are new in the business. In your situation i would suggest you to shop around for the well known brands like Brother, Singer, Melco, Tajima, Barudan, ZSK etc... I would not suggest you buy a china brand machine as it may lack professional support from the company. Also im sure every machine comes with a software to view and load designs.

Your budget seems a bit low for a brand new professional machine however there are many beginer home machines that would fit your budget very well leaving you some funds to purchase additional items like threads, backing and stabalizers.

If you plan to do lots of embroidery, a machine like the brother PR600 would be a good choice although you will have to increase your budget a bit if you want to buy a new machine....

Wish you best of luck !!
..
