Default vastex, rototex or m&r

I am looking at buying a new manual press. I want to get the best one available. I got a quote from rototex for a 8x8 that was about $10000. The m&r sidewinder 6x6 is about $6000 and the vastex 8x8 is almost $8000. Is the rototex worth the extra money? What can people tell me about these machines?

I have a M&R sidewinder 6x4 with air locks - it does everything I need it to do and I can easily replace any part I need just by shopping on the M&R website. Never had an issue with it and works great... especially the air locks for the side clamps.

To be honest...you probably don't want more than a 4 color manual.

I have no experiance with the Rototex but do have both a Sidewinder and Vatstex. Both are excellent presses and neither will disappoint. I would suggest side clamps no mater which press you choose and as many colors as possible.

Having a 6 or 8 color press will allow you to leave a job set-up in the press and move onto printing the next job.

I disagree. I have a 4/4 press and regret I got such a small press. I have either had to decline jobs because I couldn't print them or I would have to contract them out. I would go with a minimum of a 6/4.

I did not say you don't need more than 4 colors....I said..I would not print more than 4 colors on a manual.

If you print more than 4 colors....You need an auto.

That is an inaccurate statement.

Maybe "If you print more than 4 color you WANT an auto", but "need" does not enter into the equation in the least.

need = should have.

You can plow field with a tractor or a mule....both work.

I have a Hopkins six color side clamp used manual for 3K. Awesome in very good condition. Currently shrinkwrapped. I will take it down and clean it up for re-sale. Can take 23x31 auto sized rollers.
