What digitizing software should I buy?

I have a small home embroidery business and am thinking about getting into digitizing. I have researched several different packages of digitizing software and there are just too many choices. This is a major expense and commitment and really want to get the best software for the money. Do any of you have any suggestions about which software to buy?

I would choose software that offers training and support so if I had questions I could get help. I don't know what you've considered but some software types have support groups that are great for getting quick help. I use Pulse which has a good support system (email and phone) and there are two Pulse users email groups (one just started). I would google the systems you are considering to see what type of support is available.

It would also be helpful if you could see a software demonstration and actually use the software. When I stated I was able to use Daystar a bit and from that experience I learned that software was more awkward to use than Pulse. If you can attend an ISS show http://www.issshows.com/ that would be great because you could get demonstrations on different software packages.

Software can get very expensive. You don't need top-of-the-line software to start but I would buy into a package that will allow you to upgrade later.

Hi Bike Chick,
I highly advise that you take a look at Wilcom. We consider it the #1 in the industry and I think you will find most production embroidery shops and "punch houses" would think the same. (sure this is our opinion and some would not agree).
You are welcome to call me and discuss what level would be best for you if you would like. If you are just starting out you do not need the highest level to start with.
We do not sell software, but I would be happy to tell you what I know about the packages available (both Wilcom and others).

I definitely agree ... Go Wilcom. I use it myself. I have used Sierra Design Maxx, I think it is very nice too, but I would advise upon the Pro level because of the features. I'm not really a fan of Pulse, to me they have tried to re-invent the wheel, and things tend to be more complex than they need to be. There is also Wings, have not used it personally but I have heard mixed reviews.

Thanks so much for your input. I have been looking at Wingz and the local shop supports PE Design by Brother. They are giving free classes and lots of support so I am leaning that way right now. It is an expensive investment and I don't want to make a mistake. I appreciate your suggestions. I will look into some of the ones you have suggested.

Wilcom is the only software work well with any style of digitizing and this software is based on Embroidery in Mind. Wilcom America offer free unlimited on line training, tollfree phone line.
