Default What percentage??

Could some one please tell me what percentage of their business is for hats or caps?
Just curious of the hat percentage vs the other items, shirts, bags, etc. The only reason I ask is this... I would like to start doing embroidery, and now I am at the point of purchasing the machine.. I need to know.. should I buy one that does hats or can I get away with just getting a machine that does flat items?

The percentage is going to depend on your clientele. Some businesses may do exclusively caps while others may not do any. For a normal business I would agree with powerstitch, 15 to 20%.

If you are starting a new business and do not have your customer base identified you may want to get a machine with a hat frame. Sometimes its cheaper to get it with the machine that to buy it aftermarket.

Here, about 25 to 30%,,,,in our area. No matter what, get a hat set up even if you don't use it that much. Never turn down business because of a lack of equipment. Also, if you ever resell the machine, all the extras will help sell it faster.

Definitely get the hat set up.
