Re: what speed do you run your tajima
This is a "definite maybe" situation. It depends on the job. I have 2 tajima NEO2's that I use to take with me as a road machine to festivals, events, bike weeks etc. and I usually run it anywhere from 700 to 900. If I am doing a thicker canvas bag I tend to run it around the 700 to 750 range, a fleece sweatshirt or a knit beanies, crank that puppy up to 900. Caps I don't like to do on my tajima, but in the event I do them, I keep it around 550 to 600 max.
I have a 99 4 head tajima that we typically run at about 750 to 800 for fleece & polo's
Typically I have found that tajimas don't like to run (or at least not well) above the 850-900 ish mark.
I just bought a 2009 8 head stretch barudan. I run that thing at 1000 all day every day for fleece and it will rock on all day long. I am actually as I am typing this running a 82,000 stitch job at 1000 spm on denim jacket backs, and haven't had a thread break yet. and I've been running this way for 2 days. I can run caps at 800 and it purrs right along.
On a personal note ... I do think that tajima makes a far superior single head machine than Barudan, but when it comes to multi-heads, I will never buy anything other than a barudan.
