Default Where Can I find Information on Used Commercial Embroidery Machines

Just wondering where I could find more information on commercial embroidery machines?

I'm looking at a Brother BAS 415 machine and want to know how it compares to the Brother pr600 other than the fact it was made in 1996 and the pr600 is newer.

I have a Brother BAS-415 which is a single head with 9 needles and I have seen and used the new PR-600 at shows. The PR-600 has 6 needles, very portable and lightweight while the BAS-415 is not portable and very heavy built. I think the PR-600 is a home and commercial machine hybrid. The BAS-415 is completely "industrial" and what i mean by that is it's more built for heavy usage. The PR-600 is very plastic and pretty looking and to me seems like it can't go head to head with a true commercial machine.

Ah, okay. Thanks for the information.

I was told that I shouldn't get a pr600 as I would be wanting upgrading within 6 months since I already have 1 million stitches on my innovis 4000d which I bought in July of last year.

New commercial machines today have as many as 15 needles and are portable like the Tajima NEO which is a single head, 15 needle, compact table top machine. If I were to upgrade or buy another machine, I'd love to have a NEO. I tried it a show and it was very quiet. I think it weighs around 180 pounds so it takes two people to carry it around. The PR-600 weighs around 80 pounds I think.

Thanks Marc!

I did get the BAS 415 model off of e-bay from a local embroidery business. They were upgrading to SWF machines.

Congratulations violet!!! I remember when I first got my commercial machine. Oh the memories. Did you just buy it off ebay right off the bat or did you go the local business and visit the machine and stuff. Just wondering

I just bought it straight off of e-bay. The seller had really good pictures of it from all angles, and didn't hesitate to answer my million questions

We considered asking to see if we could check it out, but the seller had mentioned that it was currently in use as he was awaiting the arrival of his new machines.

I loved the fact that he was willing to take the time to walk me through all the steps of setting it up, the various hoops, tensions etc. Then took the time to show my hubby how to maintain it. He could just tell who was going to be the one using it the most! He teased us about having competition just up the road as we live about a mile from his shop, but he did mention that there is tons of work out there.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience with ebay violet! Sounds like everything went fine. The reason I asked was because I too am looking around ebay, online classifieds, and other online places to look for a used commercial machine - single head. I guess I just wanted to see if other people are successful in their transactions through meeting online. Thanks again I feel so much better now!
