At 25G it will be a game changer, they really need to build pretreatment into it though.

I think they need to build a four head machine in terms of not just output but utilization of labour so the operator is going flat out. I read on some forum, then talked to a dtg operator at a show who also said they didn't really make the money till they got two GT 782 machines in terms of cost of output. Agree on the pretreatment.

Pretreatment is a biggie, it's really one of the most important aspects of DTG, particularly on some colours of shirts where it can discolour the garment. Having it laid down in the exact shape and size of the print is the only way to go I.M.O. The big "game-changer" of the Graffitee is that it gets you into a real production unit at a price that isn't priced out of the market for most. You can start with one and add a few more as needed. Some of those "other" DTG's are to that industry what the "manual" pad printers are to pad-printing.. A sorry excuse for a real machine that will get the buyer nowhere fast.

one operator - 2 brothers

as for pretreat, there is the kornit way of doing pretreat then the way everyone else does, and I can't see the way everyone else does being implemented to nicely on the same machine just before the ink goes down...

You can't put the pretreat inline with these systems. Kornit uses a different pretreat solution, but the DuPont and Brother pretreats are sticky. The overspray would get on the head and destroy it the same day.

Let me preface my comment by saying I sell a competitive "Other" DTG machine that we manufacture ourselves in Florida. The big "game-changer" that you mention isn't as fast as you believe. We've heard reports that an 8"x10" graphic printed at 1200x1200 resolution took 4:15 on darks, but you can't download anything to the printer for 45 seconds after the print is finished, so your total is 5 minutes for an 8x10 at a good resolution. This may not be the "game-changer" you believe it is.

Now I will say, Brother has a history of producing great printers with their GT-541. So I think we can assume that their new printer will be equally well built. But our printer is less than $17K and prints faster than this machine at the higher resolutions and with less ink costs. So for those die hard Brother fans, this is a great machine, for others who are looking at production, it's a good machine and most likely won't be the answer at the $25K price range.
