WHY?? Breaking tons of needles during first stitch
Hello, I am using a tajima 1201 and trying to stitch on hats.
However, I am breaking many needles on the first stitch on my design. I am doing a 1.85" "O" in the middle of the hat.
So I center the needle where I need to and then hold down "start" to walk it the first few stitches, and the needle seems to break every other time when it is doing the first stitch.
I am stitching on a Port & Company 6-panel structured hat.
And I am using a 75/11 sharp point needle.
PLEASE HELP!!!

Needle Deflection
I had the same problem, re-adjust the hook, more space between the needle and the tip of the hook, just a bit no 2 much. that will solve the problem. set your wheel @ 200 degrees in readjust.
or.
IF the fist stitches are on the middle of the cap try a different start point.

Re: WHY?? Breaking tons of needles during first stitch
Hi, the problem is that the hat is very gross, you need to replace the nedles to a 90 size, try this, but dont think the machine has a problem, the machine is ok, I also have a 1501 Tajima, I hope this can help you, good luck¡¡¡

Sorry, but dont adjust the hook, thats not the problem, if you start adjusting parts of the machine, you will be in a lot of problems.

if u know how to readjust the hook it's not a big problem.
Using a 90 size needle will be a nightmare!

I think ecto27 is right.
Needle Hook gap, or try a different start point!
no 90 size needle, 75 will do the job, also check density.

Re: WHY?? Breaking tons of needles during first stitch
Thats right, if you know how to adjust the hook its not a big problem, its like if you know how to drive a car there wiil be no problem, but if you drive and you dont know how to drive you will crash. Replacing nedles is not a nightmare, thats why there are so many nedles sizes, in this case you can use them, they are made to sew gross fabrics, (I think the other way watch so many nightmare movies). Starting at other point of the embroidery is good point, but when you reach the center point of the hat then you will have again the problem, its up to you

Re: WHY?? Breaking tons of needles during first stitch
Also, how do I change the starting point on my design?
It is just an "O" and I just used a font in my software.
I am using Dakota Alphasizer. (not very powerful!)

Re: WHY?? Breaking tons of needles during first stitch
fedecorona1 :
replacing the needle is not a problem, i think there is no need to get such a big needle, seems like u need to watch how a stitch is made or what needle deflection means inside the hook.
portersprints:
the way to chage ur start point is to edit the design, replace the stitches in the center, change to jump, until u avoid the center of the hat, u will need to hit the manuals.
or
emaill it to me,
