maybe the industry is more what I think... mom and pops.. no employees really anymore.
so no need for a bonus.

I have told this story before. after getting out of the Army I moved to San Antonio. back then there were 9 (NINE) embroidery shops in the yellow pages (yep there was such a thing back then! lol )

Today there are over 200 on YELP. the larger shops have given way to people with dining room tables and spare bedrooms. that is simply the nature of the industry here.. so I get it. no one to give a bonus to.

Well, I do my bonuses based on years with me. I give $100 a year bonus each Christmas. I only have 2 employees. One is full time and runs the shop in my absence (which is a lot) the other is part to 3/4 time and strictly an embroidery machine operator. Both have been with me multiple years and their bonus grows every year.

nearly a year later. (kinda... thread started in 2011) SO do you give YOURSELF a bonus? clean out the account as much as possible to start the year without too much cash on hand for tax reasons?

I agree for people you do not actually know.. like the ones who pick up the trash or deliver the mail or take care of the lawn? ...(hopefully they are tipped) BUT an employee? I would hope we knew them because we tend to trust them. We see them every day and hopefully have conversations?

PERSONAL... I like your wording.

CASH is not respected... if you give 25 they want to know why not 50.... you give 50 and they want to know why not 100.....etc.

BUT... if you know they like to cook... why not make flavored salts / sugars etc... homemade.. took YOUR time to me that is PERSONAL..then if you add some cash that is just icing . If they like to read, Audibles.com... etc. you get the idea.
