Using a laser at a show?

I was wondering how many of you take your lasers to do shows away from your regular place of operations and how you filter the odors when you do this?

Bad idea, you are almost guaranteed alignment problems if you cart your laser around extensively. It’s almost impossible to not bump or knock it. You can get odour reduction units if you insist on doing this but a lot of the effectively will depend on what you are lasering and the fumes it gives off.

Well, I was just wondering because that was what I was led to believe could be done. I guess I better call the factory and ask them….

Anything can be doable - if the laser is small and you have a packing case that should give some protection. Power supply might be a problem if you running air assist and a blower. Fluctuating power affects engraving etc.

I dunno, undoubtedly you would have crowds around the machine at a show etc, people are generally fascinated with lasers and the laser manufactures manage to cart theirs around to various sign shows etc, so I suppose you can with yours. I wouldn’t do it personally but then again I need my lasers for production all day and have my laser room set up with fume pipes, air pipes, smoothed power and climate control. Even with my lasers locked into position, we go out of alignment?

Well, first of all we have an Epilogue 24TT which really isn’t that hard to move-physically. I have a cart that I can slide it onto, roll out to the garage door and then slide it into the back of the van. My thoughts were to have the laser inside the back door of the van where it can be secured and have a setup already in place to vent the fumes, provide air assist, etc. I was going to provide my own power with a power conditioning system and a UPS. I was thinking that we would only do local shows-we live in the DFW area and there are not a lot of shows outside of the area that are close and worth going to.

I have no intentions of setting the laser out on a table where people can see it and play with it.
