What a way to start out my day. A young couple came by today with one of the cutest baby girls I’ve ever seen. They brought over a christening dress that they wanted monogrammed and was asking for advice on how to go about the embroidery process in time for the special occasion.
The mommy sure had lots of questions! I can’t really blame her; it’s a very special time for them and their first born. The last thing they need is a beautiful christening dress ruined by a clueless embroiderer (don’t look at me ).
After we’ve settled on the price and turnaround time, I pulled out the embroidery color chart for cotton thread for them to look at. It’s best to use cotton because it’s the softest compared to rayon and polyester thread. You don’t want to irritate the baby’s skin, that’s why go with cotton.
The christening dress was silk so it’s very delicate. I opted not to use backing as only 3 small letters needed to be embroidered. I also used fine cotton thread with a smaller sized needle for the best possible outcome.
It’s one of the more exquisite christening dresses I’ve seen in a long time. I wanted to ask how much they paid for the darling dress, but I thought it might have been rude to do so.
