Re: Ricoma Machines any good?
If you plan on starting an embroidery business, do not skimp out on the most important component of the business...The machine. Do a TON of homework before you buy anything. If you are asking about Ricoma it says to me that you don't know much about embroidery, or embroidery machines....And there is nothing wrong with that at all. But don't base your search for machine on price alone. You will wind up being very, very sorry in the end. Industrial embroidery machines are VERY sophisticated pieces of equipment and quality machines do not come cheap. If you find a machine that is half the cost of other, similar brand name machines...Be very careful. There are reasons it costs half as much. I'm not saying you can't find a deal out there, but know exactly what you are paying for. And most importantly, know what type of post purchase service you'll be getting. That's almost just as important as the quality of the machine itself. I don't know what your budget is, but if it were me, I would rather buy a 10-15 y/o Tajima then a brand new "off" brand machine. Or if I was going to buy brand new I'd only look at Tajima, Barudan, Happy, & SWF...In that order...And I'd most likely end up with a Tajima. I've worked on/with, and have experience with Tajima, SWF, & older Barudan machines. And I know people who are very happy (no pun intended) with their Happy machines. But for me, nothing runs like a Tajima. But you are going to pay for it.
