Default SWF T601c Thread break sensor and trim issue

I have two issues going on with needle number 1, which could be related. It seem to have a bad thread brake upper sensor. I did a simple test by stopping the wheel while in production simulating a thread break and it continued to stitch. Also it doesn't perform a thread trim pre or post stitch ever when making a color change, and is only isolated to this needle. Would a bad sensor cause these symptoms?
