Default T20 How can you handle impossible requests?

So here is an example which for us happens on nearly a daily basis. I am showing this one only as it is more exaggerated than the general.

Client demands NO changes can be made.. NONE

Sorry.

How do you politely handle this type of request for a left chest design that obvious (to me OBVIOUS to ANYONE on the street with absolutely NO embroidery experience... sorry have you ever seen standard embroidery like this on any left chest)

Of course no matter what I say or suggest I am called: "rude" "lacking in customer service abilities" or downright "impossible to work with"

Am I missing something other than empathy?

Help is appreciated.

Remember NO CHANGES.

i would just explain to them that it would be impossible to digitized to have it stitch right and be legible for a left chest. if they still insist, i would say, "ok, i'll do my best, but i'm telling you, its not going to work. if you change your mind after you see how terrible it is then there will be an editing charge to change it."

Wow... I'd say unfortunately It is not possible to do it as embroidery at that size . I would have to adjust the sizes of some of the small text and overall size but otherwise what you want is not possible as the fonts alone are smaller than the thickness of the thread....

That's a crazy request! I explain that the design is too detailed for a left chest sized design and depending on the desired quantity recommend a full back design that is either screen printed or direct to garment printed.

a general rule of thumb i've told some customers, is that if you can draw the logo/lettering with a crayon at actual size and be able to read the lettering then it will work in stitches.

yeah, a sharpie is probably more factual, but it gets the point across.

How do you possibly sell embroidery and think for any second that this is going to work on a left chest?

I understand if you send this in and ask for opinions on what to change to make this work.

BUT .. to send this in and state this has to be 3.5 inches wide, no changes?

Why is it so difficult for salespeople to look at the art at the actual size the client is requesting in real time? (there are lots of free art packages that will allow you to view)

Why are the companies NOT training basic embroidery limits?

Why isn't common sense used? I mean... look at this lettering.. any NOVICE ?

am I out of line?

Separation between sales and production. Some people think they know what they are doing when selling but have no clue what is possible or not possible or even HOW its done for that matter. Someone who outsources exclusively and does no actual production or work, tend to demand some things that are impossible.

ltpemb I appreciate your insight. I agree with you. My concern is that if you own a company and you hire sales staff.... why not spend some time training them. So they can make YOUR (THEIR) company look good in real time! otherwise we tell them... then they have to go back to their client?

What do they say?

Oh, so sorry, I don't know the medium... I just sell.
