Hopefully someone can help,
I see a lot of shirts these days that seem to not use backing
or tear away backing?
I'm new to embroidery and following some advise from someone
in that was in the business for a long time says to use a medium backing
on polo's? I have a job and they are nike dri fit polos(white) logo is going on chest
and sleeve.
HELP
thanks in advance
Re: backing???
We generally recommend using a poly mesh backing for polos. It is softer and more flexible than other types of backing, but still stiff enough to stabilize the fabric.

Re: backing???
If they are the "Cool N' Dry" mesh-stretch type, those are a pain.
Agree with En, use poly mesh, but if you get puckering or distortion, in addition to the mesh backing use a piece of medium tear away, with the mesh, I've found this to help Drastically.
Re: backing???
Unless it is a small design, I use medium cutaway. I use a light mesh on small designs. I'm curious about the quality of the "unbacked" embroidery. I would expect the registration to be poor, the text to look ragged and the item to not wash well.
