Cap Trouble

Been a screenprinter for 30 years, new to embroidery. Having trouble sewing caps. The structured caps are not sewing well at all. They bunch in the middle of the seam and look awful. Any ideas? I've hooped them as straight and as tight as I can. Order is due Friday afternoon.

Does the design stitch from the middle out and from the bottom up.

try doubling the backing to cut down on the empty space between cap and sewing plate.

Middle out, not bottom to top. How much backing on a very heavy structured cap?

I have found both to be important, middle out trumps, but for a higher thin design bottom up is also important. Tajimas

Try this....put the hats on your hat attachment and don't clamp the back of the hats, leave them loose/open.
Did wonders for people we know that had trouble with hats.
