software for text?

Right now I am only interested in using text, i.e. words, monograms, names, etc. Based on what I've read, digitizing software is necessary. Is that accurate? If so, what do you suggest?

You can download Embroidery Fonts Plus for free. It comes with 3 fonts then you have to order additional. You might also look at just the text module of the Floriani software. You can buy the single module with Floriani then add on as you need more features. You can find it at RNK. rnkdistributing.com
