What's the difference between one head or two?

General concept is with two heads you double your capacity. If you are running larger quantities, then a two head will save you time and more in the long run. If you are looking to do small runs and one-offs, the a single head is the place to start.

One thing to maybe look at is machines that are either network ready or an machine that can run the two heads indenpently as well as together. Most manufactures two heads machines work together only and run the same design.

SWF has a two head machine that works invidually or together. Toyota and Melco have single head machines that can be networked to have single head runs or multihead. Just some thoughts.

I always recomend everyone to buy multihead machines. They cost a little more, but are well worth the production they give and the time they save.

We have a 12 head machine which produces 12 items in one go.. saves us hours of work

The more needles a machine has will help you do jobs having more colours.

The difference between the one and two head machines are simply capacity.

Having 12 needles per head versus 9 needles decreases the number of times that you will have to change the physical thread colors on the machine.

WHat's the saying, "Two heads are better than One." Come on guys I can't believe nobody else said that!!

I agree. More heads means more production. More neddles means less rethreading needles and color changes.

I case you hadn't heard, I have 3 Melco Amayas. I love the way they work. I can use all three heads on the same job or split them up and run 3 different jobs at once. They also have 16 needles. I have 6-8 weeks without changing a color of thread on my machines. In case you haven't read any of my other posts, these machines fly!!! I run most of my flats at 1200 spm at hats at 1000 spm. And that is below what the factory says they'll do. But like a wise man told me,

"Just because you can, dosen't mean you have to."
