Epilog laser, EX!!!

I don’t know how many of you have an Epilog EX laser but something must be done. If you received the monthly newsletter they have a new driver for reversed engraving. Meaning that you can now engrave from the bottom up. This is a great idea and will keep your engraving clean!

However if you have a Epilog (EX) machine it will not work!!! They have decided that all EX engravers are now dead horses! I just bought mine 16 months ago and now it’s a boat anchor.

If you have and (EX machine) please write the President of Epilog and complain!

They have wonderful laser’s but long term support is a must have!!

Thank you in advance…

I saw your post and now I feel your pain. I have a Radius that is 6 years old and it’s not supported either for that great upgrade either. In fact, I am still angry about the crappy driver for XP they are making me use. The win98 driver was much better. We had to completely change all of our templates when that little ‘gem’ came out. I am going to write to the President - do you have a better address or name than the standard address on their website?

What’s really mind boggling is that one of Epilog’s marketing claims is that they provide superior support for their products. I myself bought a GCC Mercury, after looking at Epilog lasers and discussing the GCC machine with Epilog sales people, and I was told by the Epilog people that buying a GCC was a mistake because in a few years GCC won’t support it, that they won’t update the driver, etc, etc. Now look who is not supporting their machines! Sounds like false advertising to me . . .

If you are an Epilog owner I suggest you request Epilog to supports all their machines or provide a protracted refund based on actual usable time versus promised usable time.

I emailed Epilog to try to get some clarification on EX upgrades. It sounds to me like final decisions have not been made. Given the requirement of a control board upgrade if Epilog does do an EX upgrade it will probably be a bit pricey. Below is the response from the Epilog salesman.
