New laser machine

I am buying a 45-50watt machine at the ara show any views on what is the best machine for the money? I have narrowed it down to laser pro epilog trotect universal does not have servo motors so I have picked the above three help service is a big thing to me as we are in Canada and no one is within 3000 miles of us.

I have a trotec 30 watt and I love it I think it is by far the best machine out there. service has been outstanding. And the print driver is tops. Where are you in Canada Trotec just moved to Michigan about 25 miles from the US Canada border. I would recommend this machine to anyone looking

My choice was made based on table size. I wanted the large table so went with the laserpro explorer. There driver can be a bit flaky but nothing I’ve not gotten around. There technical support has been poor but thankfully its not effected me too bad. The hardware does a good job but I find I need to warm up the tube in order to get consistent halftones. The machine is pretty simple and they claim to drop ship parts for the user to install themselves.

Laserpro seems rock solid when you use corel draw.

Some examples of problems. Only 1-bit bitmaps can be printed out of photoshop. Freehand has a problem drawing boxes (only 3 sides come out). The driver that shipped with the machine had a bug that produced phantom lines at the end of jobs which tech support was not able to explain. I found a newer driver online which eliminated the bug. Shouldn’t tech service know the driver version you reported the bug with is an old version?

Laserpro also refused to give any technical documentation on the extensions to hpgl that they added with the machine. There is no reason to keep this sort of information secret. It prevents 3rd party improvements to there machine, which is always a good thing. After dealing with tech support my guess is that it’s not properly documented and what they do have is written in Chinese

My new epilog ex is coming next week any tips or suggestions for setup etc. we are 2500 miles from our rep so the machine is being sent two weeks before they come for the day for training. Have had venting installed for up to 650 cfm 8inch pipe with reducers…

You are going to have so much fun learning the ins and outs. Let us know how things progress and what you think of your new system. Someone here will surely be able to help. Remember, there is NO such thing as overkill when it comes to venting - especially when you burn leather or rubber!

What wattage laser did you get? What type of products are you going to produce?

I bought a 45 watt my staff will laser acrylics, trophy brass and all kinds of promotional items we are a awards and promo shop
