Silver metallic embroidery thread on white sweatshirts

An order I got this last weekend was already finalized, but yesterday I got a last minute call from my customer to change green metallic thread to silver. The design is one color that will be embroidered on white sweatshirts. So I make a sample with silver thread on white for the customer to be approved and he said it looked fine and I should go ahead with the order. The problem is, for this particular design, size and stitch count, I don’t think silver looks as good as green on white shirts. Not to boast myself but I happen to think I’m a pretty creative person with an eye for color and design. Plus, the shirts are for women and he’s a man, and of course I’m a lady :)

Should I persuade him to switch back to green? I know the customer is always right, but I know he would sell more sweatshirts with green thread. Is it right/professional to try to persuade him or will he take it as an insult? Any input from y’all?

Edit - I started my embroidery business about 4 months ago.

Given all the info you provided, yes I say go for it! I don’t think he’ll take it as an insult at all, if I were on his shoes I’d take as a good thing cuz you’re trying to help. I’m a guy so I should know.

I agree with David. I always give customers my input on what I think looks good color-wise so it’s not unprofessional or insulting at all, in fact I’d say that they’re appreciative. He’ll see it as a good thing because:

1) You provided a sample with silver thread so it’s not as if you don’t have the color he wants so he will not see it as though you’re trying to make an excuse.

2) You’re a woman and he’ll be selling to women. Common sense.
