Default Hooping problems!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am embroidering an applique on a Polyester Wind shirt.

The inside of the shirt is 100% cotton lining...the outside is 100% polyester.

I hoop it with a 12X12 hoop

Design is 10 1/2 “ wide

I hoop the item really tight.

When I trace the design...it jumps off the hoop.

I think the material is too slippery on top.

Any suggestions?

Wrap your hoop with athletic tape or vet wrap. These can be purchased at your local drugstore or pet store.

I use clamps at times to solve that problem.

Wooden Hoops work great for this and do not require any special handling. In our shop if it thick or slick we use Wood Hoops. Standard shirts we use plastic.

Are you embroidering it upside down? I am guessing that the item jumps off the hoop because when it traces it is too large. The neck opening doesn't give much room to embroidery a large logo. Usually I embroidery large logos hooping the garment upside down and then rotating the design.
Screen Printer likes this.

Ding...Ding...Ding......That is it!

I rotated the design...perfect!

I started off with the smallest shirts..never noticing the neck was pulling hard on the trace.

Any tips from getting hoop burns?

I had it on a couple...very mildly...but I knew to look for it.

There is a fine line from hooping tight enough but not too tight.

When doing appliqués I don't want it to slip out.

Have you ever tried the magnetic hooping?

Any tricks of the trade?

Thanks a Million!

Glad the rotation worked for you!

You can use Magic Sizing spray to remove hoop burn. This can be found in the laundry section at the grocery store.

I have the mighty hoops and love them. I have 2 sizes and will eventually add more sizes as jobs warrant it and I can justify the expense.

I agree, mighty hoops are fantastic! They are very strong and they hoop things that shouldn't be hooped! They also won't damage zipper teeth...expensive gadgets but worth it!
