in reference to posting under this section, I believe that if I post it anywhere else, I wouldn't have 4 pages of replies. Second, it kinda sounds like Preston got it feelings hurt about this guy since they are both in TX, and he's trying to stick up for him. Third, it's a 1-color (white) front, 1-color (white) back. But, on an auto it doesn't really matter, does it? The indexer spins once per shirt no matter what....

As far as increasing production....we just did 2 months ago

as far as trimming the fat, our overhead at our shop is waaayyy lower than most people's on here, and we are on main street in downtown. I run this whole place with me, and 2 other guys (sometimes 3, sometimes 1)....depends on how busy we are.

My point is this....
shirt prices are going UP, if these kind of guys keep going DOWN, on pricing, it's a lose-lose situation in the end. Yeah, someone will make a little money now, (I'm pretty sure it will be me, because I will not let this guy win), but in the future when this customer expects their shirts to be $2.95, but shirts costs $2.95.....then what? Btw, I looked it up on UPS, and there's no way UPS can deliver in 2 days to Charlotte without using 2nd day air, which will cost over $2000 to ship....

I know, I posted prices on the M&R forum and some of the veterans over there said it probably wasn't a good idea. You get all the soccer moms etc.. trying to bring you shirts to print.

Why is this bad? These are real issues that all of us deal with daily. Most of us pay the same for shirts anyway. There are a few that are BIG enough get them for less. But an order 1-2k shirts doesn't always qualify for big discounts in todays market.

I don't think the cost of shirts is the issue. It's that this guy in TX is willing to work for minimum wage to get the job done. We should be in business to make a decent profit. PROFIT is not a dirty word.

My cost on a Gildan 2000 (Color) today is $2.90 I sure couldn't sell it for $2.95, $3.25 or even $3.95

Let them have the job.

I don't think our costs are that big of a secret, you think our customers are dumb enough to think we are paying $5 per shirt??? I beg to differ. I'm more willing to bet they think quite the opposite, that we get shirts for $.99...the fact is THEY can't get them at that price unless they start a business, open an account, etc, etc....as long as our suppliers continue to scratch our backs, i.e. broder bros doesn't start sending catalogs to the end-user for wholesale pricing. Unlike my other business which is an educational supply company that has been around for 18 years. Our suppliers are sending catalogs directly to the schools and teachers, AND offering them free shipping, that of which they DON'T offer us unless we buy $250 worth....wtf?

Why are soccer moms on the M&R and DigitSmith site?

And you don't think $80K with just 1 supplier is enough for that?

So, I told her I would do them at $3.25 this time....this is the response. Before you continue reading remember I did this ONLY to keep a good customer happy for future orders. I thought this was a bit ridiculous though. I think she misinterpreted what I said since I tried calling 3 times this morning and never got her, so we only communicated via email....

I do not have a my cell phone with me today in the office.

We have done several thousand dollars worth of business together over the past year. That stops now. I am disappointed that you quoted me at such a high price and then you were suddenly able to match another quote at $1.25 less. Please know that I will not now or ever be bullied in to using a certain vendor.

For your lack of consideration we will be using an alternate company for the current t-shirt order of $6500.00 in addition to any future t-shirt orders. I felt we had a great working relationship up until now. However, this instance has put into question the loyalty you have to customers and the trust I have that you are giving me a fair price.

Best of Luck,

WTF, I mean does she expect us to print for FREE....I've never had this happen, as I take care of every single one of my customers, I oversee every order as far as quality goes, and I was literally shaking I was so mad after reading this email....this was NEVER a bid opportunity. I have gone back and forth on artwork for this for 4 weeks because they "love everything we do for them". Now they will be getting a bill on top of their $3.25 per shirt for $775 worth of my time. Thanks, I'll take it.
