******! I'd send her a screen shot of your cost off of supplier site. Explain that you were trying to keep a good customer and were never overcharging. IMO Your original bid was a fair price.

But on the other hand....Dont sell yourself short and give in to these low lifes that underbid just to keep machines running

I agree with Evo. Tell them you have been our customer for many years and for that reason to keep you happy we decided to match the price you were receiving on this order. Let her know you would never quote this price to anyone and would not be able to give her this price continuously because there is no real profit in it for you and that because you appreciate their business and like them are your customer that you made this exception.

They will definately be back. This has happened to me many times and with me I dont bargain often. My business is a realationship people deal with me cause they know i will take care of them and im my opinion that is what you were doing. When she understands this she will come back.

best luck on this though. but most important is "call her when you are calm"

Thanks guys I did tell her that I was only trying to match the price to keep a good customer happy. I went and sat down with her mngr though at this location in town and he said he knew nothing about this and that he will still be ordering from me. You guys made me feel alot better though! Gotta take frustration out somewhere!

SanMar has an excellent t-shirt PC61 and its $0.75 cheaper than the Gildan.

Everyone is using Gildan right now. They used to be the cheapest but now they know everyone is using them so they can charge more.

Not sure if the customer requested Gildan but it seems to me the guy in Texas probably quoted them on a brand other than Gildan.

the whole mess sounds insane. i don't do much to entertain bidding wars where i am though.

first off, i think i saw broder bros or whatever it is. (i have an account with them but never use it because there prices are ridiculous)

I don't want to post prices but anywhere near 3 for a blank t is ridiculous. try Sanmar or Staton in TX. Port Authority is definitely pretty cheap, but there is a lot of variation in the necks when you are printing that is kind of annoying.

so from what i know of shirt pricing (depending on the shirt design and colors) i can see where they may have quoted such a low price but i guarantee you they either have an automatic press or are simply a slow shop looking for the extra business.

whoever quoted it did not do it for a high margin return, but were probably simply doing it to keep their employees busy. maybe they are simply struggling to make payroll or like you say working out of a garage.

ultimately there is no way i would do 1000 shirts on a manual press so i could make 1.00 per shirt though. sometimes people should just walk away from a bidding war, but you sound like you did good talking to the manager.

I was using PC 61's for a while and they aren't bad.. However, I stopped using them because I had a lot of complaints. If you are spending what you spend on Gildan you could try Tultex. I use them a lot for Discharge printing and people seem to really like them. I believe they are the Tultex 0202TC Unisex tee. Every color is dischargeable, thats right...Even kelly green and purple.
