Specifics are the factor. Is the press American made or imported? Imported from where how many colors special features etc. Guarantee if its American made Progressive will meet the demand before M&R if the press is over 12 colors and you'll know the people your dealing with on a first name basis. Once had to wate 5 weeks for a $50 part from M&R. They must have ran out of that special powder coat blue.

4 to 8 weeks is fair, if you are getting a press that is not requiring any changes or request that require a design change. I would think that they are selling a machine that is debuged not something they are having to design on the go.

That guarantee may not be that accurate. I am curious what that $50.00 part was you had to wait on. Was it for an older machine or for a current machine?

The part was for my blue Max 3, I had about 5 years ago. So yes an older press, I ended up having a local machine shop manufacture the part for me. As far as wait time say if ordered a 16/14 Monday when would I get it?

I see. A part for a machine that was discontinued 15 years ago took 5 weeks to get a part. Sounds about right. As far as a 16/14 it would depend on the model as we make quite a few different ones. It could run from 2 to 8 weeks depending on which model is ordered at the moment.

I vote 4-8 weeks for a domestic brand.

What is the deciding factor when it comes to not stocking replacement parts. As I said this was about 5 years ago, so that would mean that the blue Max was out of production for 10 years. If replacement parts aren't readily available 10 years after a press is manufactured that would concern me a little. I know of many printers locally and nation wide that run machines well past the 10 year mark. One of your machines right here in town, pushing 21 years.

Today I talked to Phil from Bergmann Group (Progressive & Tuff products) on this topic. Basically no waiting for Progressive or Tuff machines. If I were to order a machine today, my press would ship tomorrow. I know this is an older post but thought it was worthy of the info.
